in the heart of Riogordo, a traditional white village in
the Málaga province of Andalusia, Spain.
Overlooking the central square, Plaza de la Constitución, the house is a warm

The house includes two full bathrooms and two kitchens, one on each floor. Small Ground Floor Bedroom
This charming ground floor bedroom is the smallest bedroom in the house, yet highly practical and thoughtfully located. The room can be arranged with either one 160 cm double bed or two 80 cm single beds, depending on guests’ needs.

The kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher, fridge, stovetop, and a full set of new dishes and cooking utensils. It’s perfect for those moments when you’d prefer to prepare a meal at home rather than dine out in one of Riogordo’s many excellent restaurants.

Ground Floor Terrace
The ground floor terrace is located directly outside the large kitchen window, creating a natural extension of the indoor space. Although the house is situated in the heart of the village, the terrace offers a calm and peaceful atmosphere, sheltered from the surrounding streets.
A covered section of the terrace provides a comfortable place to enjoy breakfast, afternoon coffee, or a glass of wine. The open area allows views of the sky and fresh air, while a separate technical section houses the washing machine and dryer, keeping everyday practicalities discreetly out of sight.

Upstairs Living Room
The upstairs living room opens into a spacious area with a high, sloped ceiling that gives the room a bright and airy feel. One of the most interesting features is the tall mud wall — with its uneven surface and earthy texture, it's a beautiful and typical element of traditional Andalusian architecture.
On the walls, you'll also find a curated selection of fashion photography and atmospheric landscapes by Kristian Kaarna, adding a creative and personal touch to the space.
At its heart are beautifully restored 1970s armchairs, original to the house, which can be combined to form a comfortable sofa. It’s the perfect place to relax, spend time together, enjoy a good book, or simply take in the unique atmosphere of this inspiring home.

Upstairs Bar Kitchen
The second floor bar kitchen is a compact and inviting space designed for relaxed moments and social connection. Slightly elevated from the living room area, it offers a unique view over the space below, creating a sense of openness and interaction.
It’s the perfect spot to prepare coffee, snacks, or even a cocktail. The high counter allows for standing work with a laptop, casual conversation, or playing music while friends unwind nearby.

Library Room with Balcony
Kirjastohuone on rauhallinen ja kutsuva tila lukemiseen, ajatteluun ja hitaisiin hetkiin. Huoneesta avautuu ihana pieni ranskalainen parveke keskusaukiolle.

Attic Bedroom (Third Floor)
On the third floor, you'll find a unique and character-filled attic space with a spacious bedroom. One wall features an original stone surface — possibly 200 years old — carefully restored to preserve the soul of the house. It brings warmth, texture, and a sense of history to the room.
A small east-facing window offers a view over the pueblo rooftops and the central square, Plaza de la Constitución, gently lighting the room in the morning. On the west side, a large window opens to beautiful mountain views and fills the space with golden evening sunlight — the perfect place to watch the sunset.
The room includes a brand-new bed with soft, high-quality linens for a peaceful night's sleep. New, insulated windows ensure both comfort and quiet, keeping the temperature pleasant throughout the year.
A Space for Cultural and Educational Use
Casa de la Plaza is designed to support a wide range of cultural, educational, and creative activities. The house is well suited for workshops, trainings, seminars, and small group learning, as well as for artistic and cultural projects that benefit from time, space, and a local context.
The layout of the house allows for both shared work and individual focus. Common areas support collaboration, discussion, and presentations, while quieter rooms offer space for reflection, writing, and creative work. This balance makes the house suitable for short stays, longer project-based residencies, and structured educational programmes.
Casa de la Plaza is also appropriate for use within Erasmus+, Leader, and other European cooperation projects. Its location in the center of Riogordo enables meaningful interaction with the local community, encouraging cultural exchange and grounded, place-based learning.
Rather than functioning as a separate venue, the house is part of everyday village life. Activities taking place at Casa de la Plaza are shaped by their surroundings, creating connections between participants, local culture, and the wider social environment.

About Riogordo
Riogordo is a vibrant and welcoming Andalusian pueblo, full of life, history, and charm. Though small in size, the village offers a surprising variety of experiences for visitors.
Nestled in a scenic valley between two mountain ranges, Riogordo offers breathtaking views year-round. The surrounding countryside is perfect for hiking, photography, and peaceful reflection. The village is also the starting point of the Ruta del Olivar (Olive Route) — a 70 km walking trail that winds through olive groves, rolling hills, and traditional Andalusian landscapes. Whether you're up for a long hike or a short scenic stroll, there are plenty of trails nearby to suit every pace.
The atmosphere in the village is lively yet relaxed. You’ll find numerous restaurants and bars, local shops, and several supermarkets, all within easy walking distance from the central square. A weekly open-air market offers fresh produce, regional goods, and a taste of daily life in a traditional pueblo.
Riogordo is also well connected by public transport. There are multiple daily direct buses from Málaga's María Zambrano station, making it easy to visit without a car. From the village, it’s just 35 minutes to Málaga by car, 40 minutes to the airport, and 20 minutes to the nearest beaches.
The cultural life of Riogordo is rich and deeply rooted in tradition.
– In February, the village celebrates its agricultural heritage with the Olive Oil Festival, featuring local producers, traditional dishes, and lively Verdiales performances — a centuries-old Andalusian folk dance and music tradition.
– At Easter, Riogordo hosts the famous El Paso, an open-air Passion play performed by over 500 local actors, drawing thousands of visitors every year.
– Around August 15, the village bursts into celebration with a week-long fiesta filled with concerts, parades, and joyful community events.
Riogordo also values its history and creativity. The village is home to two museums, including the Museo Etnográfico de Riogordo, which offers a fascinating look into traditional life, complete with a recreated olive oil mill, detailed exhibits about daily work and customs in the region, and monthly changing art exhibitions.
In recent years, Riogordo has become a growing hub for artists, photographers, and cultural projects. Thanks to initiatives like the Augmenters Cultural Association, the village now hosts photography competitions, workshops, exhibitions, and artistic residencies throughout the year — adding a fresh and creative layer to its traditional soul.
